Global HR Expert and Founder of CarvinClay People Development, Irene Asare, has launched the third cohort of the Irene Asare HR Mentoring Programme on the theme “The HR Leader in the New Normal” at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) Africa’s Auditorium.
Speaking about the launch, Irene Asare reiterated her passion for personal and professional development of practitioners and the role of mentorship to harnessing their potentials. The HR expert observed the changes, challenges and the opportunities that have been seen in the practice over the last couple of years amidst the global pandemic.
“The new normal may be a cliché but it is our reality now. There is still a lot of work to be done in many areas, like the adoption of hybrid work models”, she said.
She further encouraged the mentees to take advantage of the opportunity offered to them to advance their career.
“HR is now on a perfect stage. There hasn’t been a time like this for us as professionals to think on our feet. Be the person that researches to find the real issues and learns to add value”.
Irene Asare also indicated that there is no shortcut to success in the HR profession and therefore asked professionals to take their time to go through the steps of development to learn how to do the job and seek support from others.
The Keynote Speaker, who is an ace Economist and a former CEO of Stanbic Bank Ghana, Mr Alhasssan Andane, commended Irene Asare for this initiative, saying that it’s the first of its kind in the country.
He noted that the HR profession has moved away rapidly from old practices and has had the introduction of many automations. According to him, there is the need for today’s professionals to understand the business of their organisations and how to bring the best out of people.
“Organisations are going to be radically different, agile and changing. Their purpose may be the same but the way they get it done will change rapidly so it’s no longer the stable, predictable environment where those whole HR practices were written for”, he noted.
The Irene Asare HR Programme is an annual CSR initiative of Irene Asare dedicated to equipping and raising transformational Human Resources leaders in Africa, by delivering the essential skills required by practitioners to transform themselves and their organisations.
It is in partnership with CarvinClay People Development, CEIBS Africa and the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management (CIHRM)Ghana.
The third cohort received twenty-seven (27) successful mentees from over two hundred (200) applications from candidates across many industries in the country, with strategic partnership from Stanbic Bank Ghana and Joy Business.
In attendance of the event were the Managing Director of CarvinClay People Development, Mr. Nixon Amoah-Awuah; Executive Director of CEIBS Africa, Prof. Mathew Tsamenyi; CEO of Gamey and Gamey, Mr. Austin Gamey; Deputy Chief Executive (Services) – Volta River Authority, Dr. Stella Agyemin-Boateng; Executive Director of CIHRM, Dr. Ebenezer Agbettor; among many seasoned experts in the country.
